Harwich Conservation Commission Approves Two Wetland Permits, Delays Four Others

HARWICH — June 3, 2026 — Harwich Conservation Commission approves two wetland buffer permits but loses four hearings to a GoToMeeting outage. The commission voted 6-0 Wednesday to approve orders of conditions for a new accessory dwelling unit at 1 Squash Meadow and for a demolition-and-rebuild at 265 Bay Road, both of which had been held since May 20 while awaiting state Department of Environmental Protection file numbers. A third application — a voluntary septic upgrade for Tom and Patsy Lightbaum at 6 Paradise Path on Joseph's Pond, replacing pond-side cesspools with a compliant system — generated a board exchange about bare-soil erosion risk near the water before being continued to June 17 for its own missing DEP number; a no-fertilizer-or-pesticide condition appeared likely. Hearings for 17 and 0 Dunes Road, 29 and 31-33 Snow Inn Road, 38 South Chatham Road, and 4 Mill Point Road were all pushed to June 17, the last four casualties of a hybrid-platform failure that prevented engineers and applicants from joining remotely.
