Harwich's Conservation Commission continued a Brooks Road home project after an abutter's attorney demanded an outside flood review. Attorney Christopher Senny, representing abutter Elizabeth Pellegrino, asked the board to delay a vote on a new house, septic system and pool at 53 Brooks Road so consultant Scott Horsley could check engineer Dan Corotto's groundwater calculations; the board agreed, continuing the case to November 4. Conservation Agent Amy repeatedly noted groundwater "is not in our purview," since the lot is regulated instead as coastal storm flowage.
Separately, the board approved a Mill Point Road dock and seawall project despite one member calling its riverfront plantings "a very nominal effort," and voted 3-1-1 to let North Road owners Rod and Elaine Moore choose asphalt or concrete for a driveway near the Herring River.
