Charter Panel Preps for Oct. 22 Public Hearing
Other Committee · Meeting of September 17, 2026
Harwich Charter Commission reports $85,000 left as it preps an October 22 public hearing. Members voted 5-0 to approve minutes from their August 27 meeting and corrected member Sandy Hall's name in a prior record, which had listed it as "Jarl." The commission's preliminary charter report is under review by the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, which hopes to return comments by October 6, and a state sustainable-housing review office that had not yet responded. Publishing the full report in the Cape Cod Chronicle ahead of the hearing will cost $2,300 for four pages or $4,500 for eight, with an October 2 target date.
One member praised Hall for pushing to secure $125,000 in funding rather than $50,000, saying it meant the commission "didn't stop" mid-project. The commission's next meeting is October 15.
