HARWICH — The Harwich Planning Board approved a two-lot subdivision at 650 Depot Street and continued two other hearings to November 10. Chair Duncan Berry presided as the board granted all 17 requested waivers for a panhandle lot sought by owner Samuel Benjamin Speakman, with engineer Daniel A. Ojala resolving a boundary dispute with longtime abutter Craig Whitcomb, who said he was "hopeful that we're going to have peace in the valley." The board also continued a site plan case for a 38,403-square-foot landscaping supply yard at 246 Queen Anne Road, now in its eighth hearing, where member Mary pushed for "some measure of accountability" after three rounds of peer review and five applicant-requested continuances. Member Harry cautioned against conditions "based just on what we think might be a good idea" rather than existing regulation.
A Harwich Conservation Trust special permit hearing for a learning center at 1039 Route 28 was also continued to November 10.
