HARWICH — The Harwich Planning Board continued a landscaping-yard hearing for the seventh time after engineers flagged a truck safety issue. The board voted unanimously to push the 246 Queen Anne Road site plan special permit case to October 27, after reviewing engineer Frank DiPietro said delivery trailers exiting the proposed 38,403-square-foot wholesale landscaping yard would cross into oncoming eastbound traffic. Staff member Christine Flynn said "the exiting going westbound does overlap and crosses into traffic going eastbound on Queen Anne Road." Board member Terry suggested requiring an exit sign mandating trucks turn left only.

The board also endorsed, with one abstention, a merger of three parcels into one lot for owner Nicholas G. Mitchell III, and voted unanimously to recommend Chair Duncan Berry represent the board on a new Select Board-directed zoning and planning workgroup. Separately, members backed a letter supporting a Community Preservation Committee application for an irrigation well at the Sisson Road community gardens, which spend $4,000 to $5,000 a year on water.
