Planning Board · Meeting of July 28, 2026

Harwich Planning Board approves $150,000 Bentley Road bond and previews sweeping state zoning changes. Acting Chair Ann Clark Tucker led the July 28 meeting in the absence of Chair Duncan and Vice Chair Alan, with the board voting 5-0 to accept a $150,000 performance insurance bond and approve a full covenant release for Lot 5 of the Bentley Road Subdivision in a case brought by Great White Realty Group, LLC. Town Planner Christine reported two recent planning milestones: the Cape Cod Commission voted unanimously on June 25 to certify Harwich's Local Comprehensive Plan, and FEMA approved the town's hazard mitigation plan, which now awaits a final Select Board vote.

Christine also flagged significant recent amendments to Massachusetts General Law Chapter 40A, the state zoning statute, saying she is preparing a summary packet for a board discussion planned for August or September, noting the changes have already made certain uses a matter of right that previously required permits.
