Harwich COA to host Outer Cape Health telehealth visits
Council on Aging · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Harwich Council on Aging to host Outer Cape Health telehealth visits after clinic closure. The board agreed Wednesday to book its meeting rooms twice weekly for Outer Cape Health patients after the provider announced it is closing its Harwich Port location and shifting more appointments to virtual care from a smaller Orleans site. Director Julie said the office now has six SHINE counselors, up from four last year, still booking Medicare and Social Security appointments into December.
Board member John pressed on data security: "Is it encrypted so that no history could be available on any of the computers that are here?" Friends of the Harwich Council on Aging president Bob Hamilton compared the plan to Nauset Neighbors, saying, "I don't know if there are other organizations that do that." The board also directed staff to draft a fuller proposal on a "Harwich Aging Network" to coordinate senior services townwide.
