Brooks Park basketball court resurfacing eyed in new CPC funding push
Harwich Recreation Department programming is fully underway for the fall, Recreation Director Phyllis told the Facilities Committee Oct. 7, but the bigger news was a rundown of Community Preservation Act funding headed toward town meeting.
HARWICH --
TOWN -- The town's Facilities Committee heard an update Oct. 7 from Recreation Director Phyllis, who reported that fall recreation programming is fully up and running. The bulk of the discussion centered on Community Preservation Act funding requests moving toward a town vote. Those include a splash pad project estimated at roughly $530,000, a resurfacing of the "heavily used" basketball court at Brooks Park estimated at around $300,000, and a ball field article that was left off last year's town meeting warrant due to administrative issues and still needs to go before voters. Committee members put the total of recreation-related CPC articles at roughly $700,000. That figure includes about $200,000 tied to a Harwich Conservation Trust proposal for an accessible trail off Route 28 in West Harwich, which falls under the recreation funding bucket. Final article language and amounts still require review by the CPC Committee and town meeting.
