Harwich Recreation and Youth Commission names ball field irrigation its top funding priority.

HARWICH --

TOWN The Harwich Recreation and Youth Commission, meeting Tuesday, Sept. 22, took up its Community Preservation Act funding priorities for the coming cycle. Commissioners said the ball field irrigation project remains the group's number one priority, referencing a prior total article amount of roughly $136,425 for that work, alongside two related $48,600 allocations tied to the Potter's Field and Memorial Field projects.

The commission also voted unanimously to send a letter of support for a separate request from the Harwich Conservation Trust. Michael Lok, the trust's director, asked the commission to back a $200,000 Community Preservation Act application covering the second phase of a planned wheelchair-accessible boardwalk trail off Route 28, which would open public access to a view of the Herring River Marsh. Lok said the project's first phase, a roughly $500,000 acquisition of a half-acre parcel on Route 28, will go before the Community Preservation Committee through a separate application. No high school games were reported by ArbiterLive for the period.
