Water Commission Approves $342,996 Dump Truck
Other Committee 2026-09-15 Part 2 · Meeting of September 15, 2026
Harwich Water Commission grants two contested bill abatements, then moves to rewrite its abatement rules. Commissioners approved $971.09 off a Perry's Way bill over the objection of Commissioner Ann, who said "I am going to vote against it," and $438.79 in relief for a Route 28 business owner after a burst pipe. Staff reported the board has forgiven roughly $11,600 of about $17,500 in billed charges since 2024 with no written criteria, and will bring draft policy scenarios modeled partly on the town of Hamilton to the October 6 meeting.
The board also approved a $342,996 Mack dump truck and a $14,200 trailer, voted to ask the Select Board to remove the superintendent from the town's personnel bylaw so it can negotiate his contract directly, and approved a clothing allowance for assistant superintendents Steve Hicks and John Long. Separately, the Select Board approved an $8 million bond this week, largely for the Route 28 water main project.
