Board of Health · Meeting of October 20, 2026

HARWICH — The Harwich Board of Health voted to support Community Preservation Act funding for a Community Gardens irrigation well, rescind a deed restriction on a sewer-connected property, and approve a revised variance for a garage rebuild at 37 Bank Street. Conservation Administrator Amy Uzowski said the well would serve roughly 100 garden plots and prove "more cost-effective" than town water. Property owner Chet Robertson had his nitrogen-based deed restriction lifted after connecting to sewer in November 2023, though a town moratorium still blocks any bedroom-count increase.

Bob and Mary Maroney won approval to add a second story above their garage. The board also weighed, but did not change, a policy letting Phase 3 sewer-area sellers skip Title 5 septic inspections, with one member calling the arrangement "double jeopardy" for buyers. General health permits run $125 to $200 under a renewal batch the board also approved.
